Winter 2009 – Steak of the Onion

I shall soon join the denizens of Black Earth.

I shall soon join the denizens of Black Earth.

BreakMan here.

Hey, guys!  It’s that time again.  As we get closer and closer to the end of the year, things start to slow down around here.  Historically, the holiday season has been a big roadblock for Flash and myself as far as keeping up a steady stream of content.  This is because, quite frankly, we become very, VERY busy IRL during the holidays.  For example, I’m going to be moving again in about a month and a half, so that’s going to take up the majority of my time.  Rest assured, we do not plan to abandon the website during these last couple of months, but updates are going to be spaced a lot farther apart until the new year.

Having said that, be assured that Flash and I are still working as hard as we can on new stuff to share with you guys!  Join me after the jump, and I’ll give you an inside scoop on the things that we’ve been working on.

Flash and I are still working on our newest video content, one of which should be going up any day now.  These videos will be very similar in spirit to our ELB EX podcasts.  So if you’ve been listening for a while, you should have a decent idea of what to expect.  It’ll be our first attempt at doing videos this way, so this first one is going to be a little rough around the edges, but the quality can only improve as we become more efficient at doing them.  I’ve also got a mini-series of video editorial pieces that I’ve been working on, which I hope to have finished in Q1 of 2010.

Also, to ease the strain on our server, our videos will be put up onto YouTube as they become available from here on out.  We’ll also eventually put up some of our older (and even some of our ancient) videos that aren’t available for download anymore.  Our ELB EX podcasts will still be available via the usual method of direct download, but we’re also looking into maybe putting them up on iTunes as well.  This is kinda low on the list of priorities, though.  We’ll get around to it eventually, I’m sure, but it’s currently more important for us to be working on new content.

Speaking of ELB EX, those (of course) will be delayed as well.  We’re still recording them, and we’ve got a long list of topics to discuss as well, so we’re not in any real danger of running out of things to talk about.  It’s just going to be a little while until the next one is put up.  As we’ve said before, Eye Lazor Beams as a whole is about more than just Mega Man discussion.  Mega Man is certainly what brought ELB together, and is still an important part of what we do, but we can’t be All Mega Man Twenty Four-Seven ™.

On top of all this, Flash is also putting together brand-new entries for FlashMan’s Battle Chip Lab.  We’ve had quite a few people ask when those will be coming back.  Don’t worry, they’re on the way.

We’re also throwing together some new banners to go in the “Random Banner Generator Thingy” at the top of the page, so you don’t have to be subjected to our Hannah Montana Corporate Logo ™ every time you visit, haha.  I’ve also been considering a picture gallery of sorts, but I’m still on the fence about that.  If it is implemented, it’ll probably contain a bunch of random photos from our real-life adventures.  Maybe even some random art pieces or something.  I dunno; that’s still very much in the air.  We’ll see.

One significant thing that I’d like to mention is that Flash and I are also gearing up for another big VendorMan-style event in the near future.  It’ll be set up like our other VendorMan events in the past, where we’ll set up an Invision Free board ahead of time and open it to the public on the day of the event.  Like the events in the past, it’ll be on a “first-come-first-served” basis.  We’re aiming for the 20th through the 22nd as a target date. We are going to have a TON of stuff available at super-affordable prices, including Battle Chips from all three Libraries, Chip Gates, figures, video games and more!  You might want to start getting your finances in order.  XD  Don’t miss it!

On that topic, and this is kinda sad to say, but I should probably go ahead and let you guys know that this VendorMan event will most likely be our last big hurrah.  After this last event, we probably won’t be doing any more VendorMan or JudgeMan sales.  Why not?  Well, to be frank, we just don’t have the time to do them anymore.  We begin preparing for these events weeks to months in advance, and we still never seem to be completely ready until the events actually begin.  It takes so much more time to organize these things than you’d ever think.

I’m almost completely finished with all three Battle Chip libraries, which is a feat that I’ve been working on since I first joined PET-World way back in the day, and Flash has been finished for a few months now.  We’ve been known as “The Battle Chip Guys” for a long time now, but I think we’re both at the point where we want to start focusing our time and efforts on other venues of interest.  For example, I’m thinking of going back to school, and that’ll likely take a big bite out of my spare time.  I think I speak for both of us when I say that we’ll always be “into” Rockman stuff, but we just don’t have the time and resources to devote to the constant buying, selling and trading that we used to.  But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll never sell or trade Rockman stuff ever again.  It just probably won’t be in this format when and if we do.

But hey, at least this’ll give us more time to actually get some work for ELB done, which is honestly our favorite part of this whole ordeal.  We seriously have a lot of fun putting our content together, and if you guys have fun reading/watching/listening to them, then it makes everything worth it for us.  Thanks for sticking with us, guys.  It’ll only get better in 2010.

Stay tuned during the following weeks for more info!
