Illegal Operation: The Starpost Endgame

End of an Era

Carda here.

I’ll go ahead and say it here and now: This has been a long time coming. Probably too long.

What am I talking about?  I’ll explain behind the cut; this one may get a little personal ain’t pullin’ punches.

Cheer Up, Emo Lazor Beams!

We still like this stuff...right?

BreakMan here.

I gave FlashMan a call today during one of my breaks at work, as I have been known to do on occasion. He updated me on recent events, I did the same for him, and as it usually does, the subject of Eye Lazor Beams came up.

“So, any ideas for our next topic?” I asked him.

“Hmmm…I dunno, maybe we could talk about something we actually like for a change,” he replied.

We got a good laugh out of that, and talked on for a little while, then I went back to work. But as joking as that statement was, it kinda got me thinking. About an hour ago, I got home and looked over the list of podcasts that we’ve put out recently. It actually surprised me to take a second look at them and realize how downright mean some of our podcasts have been.

Granted, we do choose our own topics, and sometimes we talk about things that, as fans, we feel strongly about. And don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to just go off on something and vent. Our scathing commentary certainly is fun to record, and fun to listen to later when a podcast is finished. But it almost seems as if this has become the rule rather than the exception lately. I enjoy recording our podcasts, and I enjoy releasing them to the public. We’d never put out anything that we’re ashamed of, so I’m not denouncing any of our past EX episodes. But I think that we should switch things up a bit.

I’ll go ahead and speak for FlashMan and Carda, and say that we’re still Mega Man fans. Sure, we have our gripes, but I think we still love the Blue Bomber, regardless of what costume he’s wearing. Also, we’re still Sonic fans as well, no matter what we’ve had to say about him in the past.

So I’d like to say that, from now on, we’re going to try to keep our wit in check. We’ll never censor ourselves (except, of course, when it goes a little too far), but I’d like to try talking about more than just the stuff that really grinds our gears. I don’t want Eye Lazor Beams to become known as the Mega Man podcast equivalent of Rush Limbaugh or Michael Moore. We’ve got more to talk about than just the things we’re unhappy with. Sure, we’ll still talk about the stuff that bugs us. Absolutely. But we’ll try to talk about more than just that for a change.

For example, FlashMan’s been capturing gameplay footage from one of his favorite video games, and I’m actually really looking forward to recording commentary for it. I hope that’s enough of a teaser without giving too much away.

So, in closing, thanks for continuing to hang in there with us, and look forward to our next update!

I want to create Mega Man! TOGETHER.

BreakMan here.

Hi, guys!  At long last, new content!  Sorry for the hiatus, it’s been really busy.  But rather than bore you with that kind of talk, let’s get down to business.

Late last year, Capcom gave fans the go-ahead to submit questions about the Blue Bomber for Keiji Inafune to respond to.  Any question.  EVERY question.  They’d pick a handful from the pile, and Inafune would answer them.   Now, at long last, the list of selected questions (and their respective answers) has been revealed!  It’s very exciting!  We were so excited to see the answers to our questions!  Surely this would be like Christmas all over again!

Yeah, but for Christmas, I got coal in my stocking.

What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been

Carda here.

Reflecting recently on my newly acquired status as “one of The Guys” here at ELB, I really have to laugh at all the incidents and coincidences that led to all this.  And hey, I figure it makes for an awesome story, so why not share it with everyone?

It started, as many things do, with a road trip.
